Leicester snap up West Brom striker Bednar

Leicester City have signed West Bromwich Albion striker Roman Bednar on-loan to January.

The Czech Republic international, 27, is Sven-Goran Eriksson`s fifth signing since taking over at the Walkers Stadium.

Bednar is well down the pecking order at West Brom and Albion boss Roberto Di Matteo is happy to loan him out to get some action under his belt.

"With strikers it is all about confidence and goals," Di Matteo told the club's official website, wba.co.uk.

"I've noticed his frustrations. Hopefully he will play and score goals and we'll review the situation when the loan is over.

"Leicester are signing some players to try to boost the team and are investing in the club. You would expect to see Leicester winning some games and that should suit him.

"Hopefully he'll score goals to help them, help himself and everybody."

Bednar should go straight into the Leicester squad for the npower Championship clash with East Midlands rivals Nottingham Forest at the Walkers Stadium on Monday evening.
