English Championship outfit Leicester City are keen on Rangers defender Madjid Bougherra according to the Daily Record.
The 28-year old Algerian international has indicated that he is looking to get back to England where he spent time with Crewe Alexandra, Sheffield Wednesday and Charlton Athletic a few years back and it is believed that Foxes boss Sven-Goran Eriksson is hoping to strengthen his defence.
Leicester's Thai chairman Vichai Raksriaksorn has cash to spend to inject some more quality into the Walkers Stadium club who have been installed as one of the top three favourites to gain promotion to the Premier League next season.
Eriksson wants somebody to partner former Hibernian centre-half Sol Bamba who was impressive last season and with Chelsea pair Patrick van Aanholt and Jeffrey Bruma returning to their parent club, the Swede sees that area of the pitch as somewhere he has to make stronger.
"I have one year left on my contract. If I need to stay then I will stay with big pleasure. No problem," he said.
"People say I am going to this club or that club. Honestly, none of it's true.
"Sometimes, you know what you are going to lose, but you don't know what you are going to find.
"The people at Rangers are very positive and they seem to like me. It is a nice family club.
"If I move then I have to move in the right way, to a bigger club playing at a higher level, so I have no regrets about moving on.
"It would have to be something very special."
