Leicester News: Puel demands Mahrez drop transfer talk; Morgan happy with Puel 'clash'

Leicester City boss Claude Puel has called on Riyad Mahrez to ignore transfer chat.

Mahrez gave an interview to a national newspaper last week, which was published on the morning of the home win over Burnley, in which he indicated he was still determined to "reach the top, contract or no contract".

“I didn't see the interview, but I can say something about Riyad," said Puel when asked about Mahrez's interview.

“When you look at his performances in the games, he is enjoying his football.

“He has a good feeling, this is the most important thing, for him and for the team.

“He is a crucial player I can only say this, if he continues at this level then I'm happy.

“As for his relationship (with the club), I think the most important thing is not to be distracted about other things.

“On the pitch, all the players, the most important thing is to give their best for the team. At the moment this is true (of Mahrez)."

Meanwhile, Foxes captain Wes Morgan says the players have welcomed Puel getting involved in training games.

“Well when the ball is on the pitch you are giving your all it doesn't matter who it is, so yeah, there was a few tackles on him, but he didn't complain," said Morgan.

“I think in general he is calm and collected. He will get his message across.

“He know what he wants and he will speak to you individually and explain things, but I think he has got a bit of, I won't say angry side, but a bit of a firm, authoritative side.

“He joined in training the other day and he was very determined, he didn't hold back in any tackles so you can see he has got that side to him as well."
