Leicester City have joined the race for AC Milan's Nigel De Jong.

According to Calciomercato, the Foxes are showing interest in the Dutch midfielder who is out of favour at the San Siro.

31-year-old De Jong has not played for Sinisa Mihajlovic since September and is believed to be looking for a way out this January.

German duo Schalke and Werder Bremen are keen on the former Ajax, Hamburg and Manchester City defensive midfielder but Leicester may take advantage of their brilliant Premier League form by strengthening in the winter transfer window.

Gokhan Inler has failed to impress since arriving at the King Power Stadium from Napoli in the summer and Claudio Ranieri is reportedly looking to replace him with De Jong.
