Former Leicester City captain Matt Elliott is disappointed by the sacking of Craig Shakespeare.
Shakespeare was sacked on Tuesday afternoon.
Asked how he reacted to the news, Elliott said: "Initially with surprise, and secondly with disappointment. Shakespeare has put his heart and soul into the club.
"He gave a great account of himself, particularly in the interim period when he turned around the fortunes of the club. There were a few rumblings around, and that proved to be the case.
"There were high expectations but a tough fixture list. They've played the four of the top six but against Huddersfield, Bournemouth and West Brom there was no cohesion in their play. The owners have made a decision for the long-term benefit of the club."
