Leicester boss Sven-Goran Eriksson was delighted at ending Southampton's perfect start to the Championship and finally winning at home in the 3-2 win over The Saints. The Foxes boss said: "We are very pleased to get our first home win. Anything but a win today would have been very bad for everyone in the club."
The former England manager was quick to praise keeper Kasper Schmeichel for keeping his team in the game.
"We were very good in the first half but they were better in the second half and I think Kasper saved us a couple of times," said the Swede.
Southampton counterpart Nigel Adkins was philosophical about the result.
He said: "We could have got something from the game. We had chances in the second half and their keeper has made some great saves. But we try not to get too carried away when we are winning and not to be too down when we lose.
"We allowed Leicester to get a good start to the game and despite coming back strongly in the second half we were just unable to claw it back.
"Kasper Schmeichel made some good saves and to come away from home and see that is very pleasing, but at the end of the day we lost."
Adkins claimed defender Rickie Lambert had been fouled by Sol Bamba before heading into his own net to give Leicester their third goal just before the break.
He said: "It was a foul but you just have to accept it and get on with it."
