Leicester dealt well with injury setbacks - Pearson

Leicester City boss Nigel Pearson believes his side did well to recover from early injury setbacks to provide a stern test to league leaders Chelsea at King Power Stadium on Wednesday.

The Foxes suffered from two early injuries to Andy King and Robert Huth, but edged ahead courtesy of Marc Albrighton's first goal for the club on the stroke of half-time.

However, Chelsea proved too much to handle in the second half as they claimed a 3-1 win in what Pearson describes as a decent showing.

"Fine margins," Pearson told Foxes Player. "It was good first half performance and I think the second half performance was pretty good too.

"I think we had to deal with a number of setbacks and it's difficult to give it the sort of balanced view that you would normally give.

"Throughout the game we caused them problems and it was disappointing to concede as early after half time. The other thing that's particularly disappointing is that we've had to make substitutions that we normally wouldn't through injury - Kingy (Andy King) and Rob Huth came off.

"Before the game we had no inkling as to the fact that they may have a problem. In fact in the build up to the game there was talk about other players having an injury, but then you get thrown two injuries to players that you haven't factored in.

"That really does limit the options that you have in the second half. Having said that of course, I think we still played pretty well."
