Championship club Leicester City have signed highly-rated lower league striker Jamie Vardy.
The 25-year old has signed a three-year deal with the Foxes, joining from Conference outfit Fleetwood Town, for around £1million which is a record for a non-league player.
Vardy scored 31 league goals for champions Fleetwood but will now ply his trade for Leicester with manager Nigel Pearson delighted to secure his services.
"He has built an excellent reputation for himself through the goals he has scored at non-league level and, having studied his progress closely for some time, I have no doubt he will successfully make the step up to the Championship.""There were a number of clubs vying to secure Jamie's signature, so it's very pleasing that we have been able to bring him to Leicester City. He will definitely help to take us forward," said Pearson.
