Leicester chairman Mandaric admits Hasselbaink talks are over

Leicester chairman Milan Mandaric has confirmed the Foxes have pulled out of a deal to sign Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.

The 35-year-old former Leeds, Chelsea and Middlesbrough striker is without a club after been released by Charlton at the end of last season.

The former Dutch international was reportedly undergoing a medical at the Walkers Stadium on Monday ahead of a possible move.

But Mandaric says that after discussions with boss Martin Allen the Championship side have now dropped their interest in the striker.

"There was a chance of the signing but, after discussions with the manager, it was decided not to take it any further," Mandaric told the Leicester Mercury.

"But it is still my intention to back him with some more new signings if we can."
