Leicester City boss Claude Puel has urged Kelechi Iheanacho to be patient about his playing chances.

Puel insists the Nigeria striker will get his chance with their schedule to become busier.

“He is a good player but he improves and he finds his place in the squad," said Puel.

“We have a lot of players in this position. It is good competition between them, perhaps a little more because for one or two positions we have six possibilities.

“We have Iheanacho, Islam Slimani, Ahmed Musa, Shinji Okazaki, Leo Ulloa and Jamie Vardy; it is a lot of players but I hope we can give them good game time for the future because we play every three days.

“It will need all these players with good qualities and attitude.

“They need to work hard in the training sessions to keep a good level. Of course all the players want game time but the balance is difficult because we have a lot of players in the same position."

Meanwhile, Puel says Riyad Mahrez has offered no signs that he wishes to leave.

The manager says the forward is now fully focused on City and this season.

“We discuss all the time… In French," said Puel. “He has a good positive attitude, with the players, with the club. I am happy with his work.

“It's finished. That was last summer. Now he's concentrating on this season.

“He's keeping a good focus, and when I spoke with him, he is a player who likes football, he likes the game.

“He has questions about the football, about teams, about strategy, this is the most important thing, when a player likes his work and likes job, like him, it's fantastic.

“There were some problems sometimes, last summer for example, now he likes his football and he gives hard work on the pitch.

“When we speak together we have a good understanding between us, but I think it important to discuss things with all the players, and it's not just football. I think it's important also to speak about the family, and how they live."
