Leicester boss Puel confirms Benkovic available for loan

Leicester City manager Claude Puel has confirmed that Filip Benkovic may go out on loan this season.

Benkovic is a recent signing from Dinamo Zagreb. However, a loan may help his development.

The 21-year-old Croatian is a huge prospect but a year with regular first team football could be exactly what he needs.

"What I can say about Filip, we will see if he has the possibility to go on loan before the end of the transfer window but I am happy of course to have this player because he is a talented player," Puel said to the Leicester Mercury.

"We want to develop him. We have a lot of centre-backs in the team with a lot of quality, but I want some game time for the young players also and to continue to develop this young player.

"He has to adapt in the Premier League and English football, with the battles and the intensity.

"It will be a good thing if he can have this experience. We will see if it is possible or not, but of course if we put him out on loan it is not because we don't want him. We want to continue to develop him.

"We will see. Different clubs have an interest in him and we will try to give him the possibility to have the best loan."
