Leicester boss Pearson: Lawrence is ready

Leicester City boss Nigel Pearson is set to hand Tom Lawrence a chance against Liverpool.

The former Manchester United youngster has returned from a loan spell at Rotherham and is expected to be in the squad for Thursday's trip to Liverpool.

Pearson believes forward Lawrence, who is yet to make his Leicester debut, can plug the gap.

He said: "Now he has had some experience on loan it benefits him and us. He will be under consideration without a doubt.

"That is the challenge for the players. It is not about the managers saying 'it is an opportunity', it is whether the players recognise it and whether they are able to grasp that opportunity when it comes along.

"That is one of the key elements to players fulfilling their potential, whatever that potential is. You have to have tolerance of inconsistencies in young players.

"Look at Riyad Mahrez, whose last 12 months have been an incredible shift in not just the levels but the experience he has had.

"It is too easy to forget young players need time to adjust. I am delighted he has done so well for us. Whether Tom can emulate that will be interesting to see."
