Leicester City boss Nigel Pearson is delighted for Jamie Vardy over his England call.
The 28-year-old this week completed an incredible three year journey from non-league football to the England squad.
Pearson said: "It's quite an amazing turnaround.
"When you look at his career in its entirety, it's a good story, it's probably the type of story that hasn't happened in recent generations of players.
"Jamie's not as straightforward a character as you would probably think he is.
"For lots of different reasons - and they're not for discussion here. He's had a few situations that he's had to deal with on and off the field.
"And, as most players do from time to time, he's suffered with confidence which had coincided with other aspects he's had to deal with. But he's a likable lad. He's someone I have an awful lot of time for.
"I'm really pleased for him. I hope he's able to enjoy the experience. I'd never want Jamie Vardy to be anyone other than Janie Vardy. Warts and all."
