Leicester City boss Sven Goran Eriksson admits he did try to sign LA Galaxy star David Beckham.

Becks turned him down but the ex-England chief is still chasing a 'big name' signing next month.

Eriksson has also been snubbed by Robbie Keane and Roque Santa Cruz but has the cash to aim high thanks to Leicester's Thai owners.

Eriksson said: "The owners want a big signing. Of course I would take Beckham. I spoke to his agent to see if there was a small chance but he said it wasn't possible.

"It's difficult when you talk about players at that level. Most don't really want to come to our league."
