Leicester boss buoyed by ‘Dragon Slayer’ Slimani

Islam Slimani scored his first Champions League goal for Leicester City on Tuesday night.

The Algerian striker, who joined the Foxes from Sporting Lisbon in the summer, continued his brilliant scoring run against Portuguese giants FC Porto.

Slimani's 25th-minute header from Riyad Mahrez's wonderful cross in the 1-0 win at home was the 'Dragon Slayer's' sixth goal in four matches against Porto in 2016.

"I was very confident with Slimani because Slimani often scored against Porto when he was a Sporting player," said Ranieri.

"I spoke with Riyad and with Islam and said: 'Come on guys, make something good tonight.' And they made a pass - assist and goal.

"After we defended very well. We were well organised because Porto played very well with a very good skill of players."
