Leicester City have reportedly made an enquiry with Sassuolo about the availability of Francesco Acerbi.

Sky Sports is reporting that the Foxes have approached the Italian club regarding a potential January transfer for the 28-year-old centre-back.

Claudio Ranieri wants a new central defender in January and has asked for permission to speak with Acerbi, however, the reigning Premier League champions will face competition from Serie A giants Inter Milan, who were unsuccessful in their pursuit of the player in the summer window.

Former AC Milan loanee Acerbi, who has played more than 110 times for Sassuolo, would command a transfer fee of around £11million.
