Legendary actor Sir Patrick Stewart revels in Huddersfield Town promotion

Sir Patrick Stewart, of Star Trek and X-Men fame, says he enjoyed one of the 'grandest afternoons' he has ever had, when he witnessed Huddersfield Town win promotion to the Premier League after defeating Reading on penalties in the Championship play-off final.

Yorkshire-born Stewart was kitted up in Terriers clobber at the all-important match at Wembley on Monday.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Steward said of the match: "It's one of the grandest afternoons I've ever had watching sport. It was remarkable!

"The match was tense – borderline terrifying the whole way through. It could have gone either way… and the drama of the penalty shoot-out.

"I had lost count of the penalties; I thought there were two more to go, and I turned away and it was all over!

"I'm absolutely thrilled. I love this club, love the team, I love Dean Hoyle – our chairman – and especially the manager, David Wagner, who has done miraculously for Huddersfield Town this season."
