Leeds Utd star Byram chooses West Ham over Everton

West Ham United will sign Sam Byram from under the noses of Everton according to Leeds United chairman Massimo Cellino.

The 22-year-old right-back is set to join the Hammers on a £3.7million deal after he rejected a move to Goodison Park.

Byram had agreed personal terms with the Toffees but eventually opted for West Ham and will have his transfer to the East London completed this week.

Cellino said: "I'm really sorry for Everton because they really acted like gentlemen, but Sam chose West Ham."

Byram will provide competition to Arsenal loanee Carl Jenkinson and regular centre-back James Tomkins for the right-back slot at Upton Park.
