Leeds United chairman Ken Bates has dismissed speculation that recently-sacked Wolves boss Mick McCarthy was set to take the vacant role.
The West Yorkshire outfit axed Simon Grayson earlier this month and it has been reported that McCarthy, who lost the Wolves gig on Monday, was set to step into the role but Bates has played down those rumours.
"(On Tuesday) a national newspaper said we had already approached McCarthy and offered him the job.
"I don't know where McCarthy lives or what his telephone number is. It's just speculation gone mad.""The world and his wife has applied for this job because it's a good one," Bates told Yorkshire Radio.
