Leeds star Clayton admits basing his game on QPR skipper Barton

Leeds United midfielder Adam Clayton says he bases his game on two former Manchester City players.

Clayton came through the system at City before moving to Elland Road.

"As a City fan, I used to watch Ali Benarbia," said Clayton, who joined Leeds a year ago after leaving City.

"He was just class and my hero back then. But when I was at City, growing up I also used to watch Joey Barton when he played for them.

"If you could have anything of Joey's, it would be his fight and spirit on the pitch. He always wanted to win.

"I didn't have to prove anything to myself when I came to Leeds.

"I'm quite confident and it was just about getting the chance and showing what I can do. Of course the ambition of everyone is to play in the Premier League."
