Former Chelsea and Leeds United striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink is in the frame for the Elland Road job.
The Mirror says Leeds are weighing up an approach to old-boy Hasselbaink about a return to Elland Road as they step up their manager search.
The Yorkshire giants' then-owner Massimo Cellino wanted to speak to the Dutchman, who was a fans' favourite during his playing days at Elland Road in the 1990s with 34 Premier League goals in his two seasons there, a year ago.
But the 45-year-old rejected the opportunity and ex-Swansea boss Garry Monk, who was confirmed as Middlesbrough's new manager on Friday, landed the job.
