Leeds priced out of deal for Hull's Windass

Leeds United have been priced out of a deal for Hull City veteran Dean Windass.

Windass, 39, has spoken to the League One club about joining them on loan after playing just 96 minutes for the Tigers this season.

But Leeds chairman Ken Bates is not willing to match Windass' £10,000-a-week wages.

Elland Road boss Gary McAllister said: "He's one of lots of players who are making calls via agents and want to come here.

"Dean Windass, for somebody his age, is in fantastic condition and still capable.

"He falls into the category of a group of players who want to come here.

"Playing for Leeds is a nice proposition. The size of the squad doesn't stop us looking at people.

"But we're still looking at players going the other way out of the club."
