Leeds legend Clarke tells Beckford: Newcastle not big enough

Leeds United legend Allan Clarke has told Jermaine Beckford to forget about Newcastle United.

Clarke also believes Beckford should sign the new contract he has been offered, stay at Leeds and help take them to promotion rather than join Newcastle.

He said: "Jermaine is doing a great job for Leeds, the fans love him, and he is already with the biggest club he'll ever play for.

"Let's face it, Leeds are far bigger than Newcastle, so Jermaine should stay at Elland Road and become a real hero there."

Quality story, quality comments.... Can't wait to think about them as we face Chelsea, Man Utd & Arsenal next season. Your all going to love Scunthorpe away you massive massive club you.

Sorry but Leeds bigger than Newcastle? There is a whole division seperating the 2 teams, i'm guessing clarke is saying that Leeds have won more in their history and I would agree with that but at the moment Newcastle are a team on their way back to the Premier League and Leeds are slowly trying to regain their stature as a top club but you're in League 1, Beckford wants to play at the club who are currently bigger and better and have higher wage offers. Beckford isn't gonna give a crap about how leeds were good about 20 years ago!

While there was no need for Clarke to say it it's true. Newcastle have zero profile outside of the north east wastelands and the fans use football as just a badge. No serious supporter would put up with their complete lack of success and apoint that brush headed bottler keegan twice. No real football knowledge or heritage just an effective way of wasting dole money, a tradition handed down through the generations.

Small city, little knowledge, shorter skirts.
