Blackburn Rovers have signed teenage New Zealand prospect Tim Payne following a recent trial.

The striker, 17, was spotted by former Leeds United player Danny Hay and recommended to Blackburn by defender Ryan Nelsen, says the Daily Mail.

Payne, 17, was one of the standout players at the U17 World Cup in Mexico but impressed Blackburn with his displays in midfield and on the wing.

Payne said: "It has all happened so fast."
