Leeds United defender Andy O'Brien has urged his former Newcastle United fans to keep the faith.
The former Toon defender - who helped beat the Magpies in a Leeds shirt on Sunday - was part of the last squad to take part in Europe's premier competition.
O'Brien told the Evening Chronicle: "Things can change quickly.
"We were only a fraction away from doing something, and it was a great honour to be there.
"Without a doubt, it was an honour to have played for Newcastle, and especially in that era under Sir Bobby.
"We finished third, fourth and fifth and got into the Champions League and the semi-finals of the UEFA Cup and FA Cup."
