Fabio Cannavaro has held talks with Leeds United over the manager's job, it has been revealed.
But the Mail on Sunday says negotiations have fallen flat and the World Cup-winning captain is not set to take over from Steve Evans at the Championship club.
The 42-year-old Italian was in Leeds two weeks ago but discussions are believed to have broken down due to disagreements over money.
The situation surrounding Evans will not change, however, with the head coach still set to be replaced in the summer.
A club insider said: "The Cannavaro deal is dead and buried. Evans will go, his contract will not be renewed. A foreign coach will still be appointed."
