Leeds boss Warnock holds a special place in my career - Everton's Jagielka

Everton defender Phil Jagielka insists that he has not forgotten about the part Leeds United boss Neil Warnock played early in his career.

The Toffees take on the Whites in the third round of the Capital One Cup at Elland Road tonight and ahead of the contest, Jagielka praised the man for giving him his start when the pair worked together at Sheffield United.

"I probably won't see him before the game so how it is will probably depend on the result. If they get the result they want then he will be chasing after me for a hug and handshake. If we get the result we want then it will be different I am sure. We'll have to see how we go," the England international told the club's official website.

"He is the sort of character you either love or hate but he was the man who gave me my first big chance. He will always have a special place for me as you don't forget those people who help you in your career.

"You want characters in the game, you don't want to be watching interviews on the telly and switching them off because they are boring and Neil Warnock is certainly not boring."
