Leeds United boss Brian McDermott didn't take a Twitter blast personally from the girlfriend of Reading goalkeeper Adam Federici.

Earlier in the season, McDermott had to handle the curse of Twitter when the girlfriend of Federici claimed the manager had shown a lack of loyalty to her man.

"People type that stuff in on Twitter and it's usually an emotional reaction to something that's happened," he told the Daily Mail.

"If they waited a couple of hours to calm down they probably wouldn't do it, but she got so much stick she closed her account. A couple of days later I told Adam to go home and give her a cuddle. I felt sorry for her."
