Leeds boss Christiansen hopeful Burnley win previews Premier League life

Leeds United manager Thomas Christiansen is hopeful that the midweek victory over a Premier League side in Burnley gives Whites the confidence to launch a promotion bid this season.

Leeds claimed an exciting penalties victory over Burnley in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night and a delighted Christiansen has expressed his hope after the game that his side can now be confident of earning promotion to the top flight this season due to such an impressive performance against a Premier League side.

He said: "Before I came here I knew about Leeds, I've followed English football since I was a kid and I knew Leeds were a big team.

"They are a team who should be in the Premier League. This is what we are going to work on, day by day, one game at a time. We'll do our best to achieve that this season.

"This was a tough game, 120 minutes of high intensity, and a very good opponent from the Premier League who have been doing well. But we came here with the intention to win and to pass to the next round."
