Leeds boosted as Becchio agrees to open negotiations on new deal

Leeds United striker Luciano Becchio has confirmed he wants to sign a new contract at Elland Road. The 26-year-old Argentinian has become a fans' favourite following his arrival in 2008 after proving his worth following an impressive trial.

Becchio has been linked with moves to Hull City and Stoke, but he has now revealed that he is happy at Leeds and wants to sign extended terms.

The former Boca Juniors youngster was in the same side as Carlos Tevez and hopes to help Leeds win promotion again so he can line up against his good friend.

"I want to stay here. I want to live here," confirmed Becchio. "My agent has spoken with Leeds and I am ready to sign a new contract.

"Of course I see Leeds going into the Premier League and I want to be part of that. I would like to play with Leeds against Carlos Tevez.

"Tevez was my friend when we were young together with Boca. He is a great player and he is going well for Manchester City."
