Recent reports have suggested that Newcastle United are planning a move for Leeds United striker Jermaine Beckford.

The 25-year old has again been in prolific goalscoring form for the Whites but his contract expires in the summer and he will be able to leave Elland Road for free at the end of the season if he doesn't agree a new deal.

It is believed that the Magpies are keen to lure Beckford to St James' Park in a deal that would be worth about £3million as they look to return to the Premier League and need a consistent goalscorer to take them there.
