Lee: Study trip led to Liverpool return

Sammy Lee has revealed how a planned study visit to Liverpool led to him being offered the assistant manager's job by Rafa Benitez.

Lee told liverpoolfc.tv: "I've been doing study visits, which involves going round other clubs, studying their methods and trying to improve my knowledge base for when I came back into football. I didn't want to stagnate - I wanted to try to move on and learn new methods.

"I'd wanted to do one at Liverpool and Rafa told me I could come at the back end of the season. So, by coincidence, I was here for three days last week studying the methods - then the position came up."
