Ledley reopens talks over new Cardiff deal

Long term injury victim Joe Ledley has reopened talks with Cardiff City over extending his contract with the Bluebirds. The Wales international, whose current deal expires in the summer, will not feature again this term as he is set to undergo surgery on both hips.

The 22-year-old has held initial discussions with chairman Peter Ridsdale, who is hopeful an agreement can be reached swiftly.

Ledley told the Western Mail: "I spoke to the chairman after the Bristol City match and I'll be getting in touch with my agent too."

Ridsdale added: "Joe has been an absolutely superb player for Cardiff City.

"The commitment and professionalism he has shown during his time here has always been exemplary.

"We are in discussions and are sincerely hoping we can get a new contract signed before the end of the month."
