West Brom have emerged as surprise favourites for Cardiff City midfielder Joe Ledley.
The Sunday Mercury says West Brom will step up their move for Ledley in the coming week, after hearing that the free agent favours a move to The Hawthorns.
The departing Cardiff midfielder's deal with the Welsh club expired on July 1 and the 23-year-old is hot property.
A whole host of clubs have shown an interest, but only Stoke City and Celtic have offered packages to the player.
Roberto Di Matteo's Baggies have only just entered the race for Ledley's signature - but already look as though they've jumped to the front of the queue.
For family reasons, Ledley wants to stay as close to his South Wales base as possible - ruling out a move to Parkhead or further afield as destinations such as Panathinaikos and Galatasaray have also been mooted.
