Lecce have left Souleymane Diamoutene out of their squad after he was attacked by fans at training last week.

The Mali defender was surrounded by 10 ultras during a training session this week, who hurled insults based on his past as a Bari player and tried to forcibly remove the shirt from his back.

Diamoutene has been left out of the squad ready to take on Genoa on Sunday afternoon.

“I make the choices and they are down to technical decisions,” said Coach Gigi De Canio.

“I base my decisions on the evaluations I make during the week and because of this, obviously, not calling Diamoutene is purely a technical decision.

“Of course I am sorry about what happened and I explained that to the lad, but that incident isn’t the issue. It has nothing to do with it.”
