LeBron James releases Liverpool FC-themed trainers - to 'mixed' reviews

Basketball star LeBron James has released a range of Liverpool-themed trainers - to 'mixed' reviews.

Miami Heat star James is a minority owner in the Anfield club.

The 'LeBron 9 Low Liverpool Edition' comes in Liverpool red and features an approximation of the Liver bird on Liverpool's club badge - though it has to be said not a very accurate one, reports the Mirror.

There are also 18 championship trophies on the sole, representing the number of titles won by the club. But the trophies on the shoe appear to be the image of the Premier League trophy - all Liverpool's title wins came before the Premier League was established in 1992.

Fans have already begun registering their disgust on the NESN website.

One, named Faith Fulcher, wrote: "Get rid of those designs immediately. IF YOU ARE GOING TO PORTRAY A LIVERBIRD - PLEASE ENSURE THE DESIGN IS 100% Correct."

Another named Jason Hickey, added: "18 premiership titles on the sole? What a joke, surely he knows we have never won a prem title yet? What a joke."
