Leading lawyer to help Hearts players for free

Leading Scottish lawyer Paul McBride has offered to help Heart of Midlothian players free of charge as they battle to receive the wages they are owed from the embattled club.

Hearts players are unlikely to receive their December payments as the Edinburgh outfit continues to fight financial uncertainty with a January walkout imminent.

However, McBride says he will assist the playing squad in having their salaries paid ahead of Christmas.

“These players have been doing their best for the club and fans in a terrible situation,” he told Record Sport.

“Christmas is coming, many are not on high wages with children and families to look after. It’s the least I can do to help.”

He added: “The club is in breach of contract and the players could go at anytime.

“Alternatively, the players could have the club’s assets seized in the same way as some former directors did recently when they were in dispute with Rangers.

“The players wouldn’t be picking up the costs, that would be the responsibility of Hearts because what they have done to their employees is completely and utterly unacceptable.”
