Liga Deportivo Universitaria de Quito striker Franklin Salas is reportedly close to finalising a move to MLS outfit Sporting Kansas City.

The 29-year old is set to become the third player from Ecuador's Serie A to join a MLS club according to an article on futbolinmediato.com.

The article suggests that LDU Quito 'leader' Esteban Paz said the deal was set to go through and the Salas would be with Sporting for the 2011 season.

Salas, who had a brief stint with Red Star Belgrade in 2007/08, has represented Ecuador on 24 occasions.
