Lazio are looking to challenge Marseille in the race to sign Florian Thauvin, according to reports emerging out of Italy.

Thauvin has failed to impress at Newcastle United following his £15million move from Marseille last season and the Magpies are believed to be keen on offloading the 23-year-old this summer.

Marseille are keen on signing Thauvin on a permanent deal, having taken him back on loan in January, but according to reports from GianlucaDiMarzio.com, Lazio are looking to compete with the French side in the race to sign the French winger.
