Lazio striker Mauro Zarate has hit back at Roma captain Francesco Totti.

Totti dismissed Zarate's star status last week.

In response, the Argentine declared: "I don't like talking about other players. I only speak about myself. I love football and I am not someone who wants to be hated by the Roma fans.

"Actually, when I meet them, I complement them. As for Totti, it's not like this with Lazio fans."

Asked if an Italy side with Totti up front would win the World Cup, Zarate replied: "In my opinion, Pandev and Zarate would be stronger."
