Lazio's Bresciano will still get Australia chance

Mark Bresciano was left out of the Australia squad for next month's friendlies against New Zealand and Serbia.

The 31-year old Lazio midfielder has not played for the Socceroos since the World Cup in South Africa last year when he asked to be left out from national team duties to focus on club football.

It was believed that the former Parma and Palermo man would be back for the two winter matches in Adelaide and Melbourne in June but Holger Osieck decided not to include the attacking midfielder, although he did say there will be chances down the track.

"I considered it (picking Bresciano) and a couple of weeks ago we had some contact," Osieck said.

"But when I was in Europe recently I have to admit I couldn't get to Italy for some other reasons and there were so many other games and the schedule was not really appropriate.

"Down the road I could imagine that he may come back into our team."
