Lazio president Claudio Lotito admits he attempted to sign Liverpool striker Fabio Borini.

The Italian moved to Sunderland on-loan on deadline day.

"His name was under consideration, but Liverpool didn't want to sell him outright and they preferred to keep him in the Premiership," said Lotito.
