Lazio president Claudio Lotito admits he tried to sign Inter Milan striker Julio Cruz last month.

"I asked (Inter president) Massimo Moratti for Cruz," said Lotito. "But they refused to consider selling him.

"Only Alvaro Recoba and Adriano were on the market and I wasn't interested in the Brazilian."
