Lazio goalkeeper Nestor Muslera is ready to battle new teammate Juan Pablo Carrizo for a starting place this season.

"Carrizo is an important signing in my position and I am glad to see him here because he speaks the same language and we get on well," the 22-year-old said.

"It is really important that we can communicate and I feel better on and off the pitch, which is a big thing."

Despite Lazio's miserable 12th-placed finish last term, Muslera is setting his sights on some ambitious objectives.

"I want to win the Scudetto with Lazio and I think this year we can finish fourth," he insisted.

"We have a very strong group and can make a quick return to the Champions League."
