Liverpool are pushing to land Lazio defender Modibo Diakite.

TMW says Reds chiefs have intensified their negotiations in recent days as Diakite enters talks with Lazio over his future in Rome.

The defender is off contract in June, but could push for an early release so to move to Anfield during the January transfer window.
