Lazio defend failing to land CSKA Moscow star Honda

Lazio have defended their failed bid for CSKA Moscow star Keisuke Honda.

The Biancocelesti failed to bring in Keisuke Honda from CSKA Moscow, a full-back or a star striker, instead selling Djibril Cissè, Giuseppe Sculli and Guglielmo Stendardo.

Lazio said in a statement: "The proposal sent to CSKA to sign Honda was worth €13m over three instalments plus the sale of goalkeeper Juan Pablo Carrizo. It was the biggest economic proposal made by any Italian club in January 2012."
