Lazio coach Edy Reja was tightlipped yesterday over his attempts to resign.
Reja had his letter of resignation rejected by Lazio in the afternoon.
Ahead of their Europa League clash with Atletico Madrid, Reja remarked: "I can simply say there was a difference of opinion. That's the end of the matter. I intend to speak exclusively about tomorrow's match.
"We had two days of rest and all I hope for is that there are no more injuries. I hope to get Matuzalem back and we'll see tomorrow what condition he is in."
Reja was then asked if the players would suffer in the current situation.
"The lads have always given their all regardless of who was in charge. They play for the club and the Lazio colours. Since I've been here, they have always given the maximum effort. In my view that is important and should be underlined.""Logically we are not in great shape, especially as we are coming off some poor results. In terms of morale we are not doing well, but this match must be honoured and we'll do all we possibly can with the remains of the squad.
