Stan Lazaridis is set to take over the director of football role at Perth Glory, in a bid to keep the struggling A-League club in the competition. The former Socceroos, Birmingham and West Ham star will take over football operations which include key areas such as recruiting, welfare, coaching, strategy and leadership. The West Australian club is expected to make an official announcement today in regards to the change in hierarchy according to Perth Now. Lazaridis' first job will be to modify the player leadership group to take pressure off Captain Jamie Coyne. Ivory Coast striker Eugene Dadi and veteran Jamie Harnwell are likely to join Coyne in the club's new leadership group. After being sacked as the club's marquee player last season, Lazaridis is now considered to be the only man who can save the deteriorating club.
