Sheffield Wednesday boss Brian Laws has was critical of his team after a woeful 4-0 defeat at home to promotion-seeking West Brom. Laws said: "You have to be at your best to beat a side like West Brom, but we made them look very good today.

"I thought for the first 20 minutes, we were pretty even but the first goal (in the 22nd minute) sapped the strength from the players and then our passing went astray.

"The level of performance that we have shown in the last four or five games was not present today."

Laws added: "You can't carry one player let alone 10. I would have put on all seven subs if I could. I think that's one of the worse performances we have put in.

"We have to make it a one-off. We have a huge game coming up against Reading and it's all out to get three points.

"We need to work on doing the basics right. A result like this does drag you into the relegation situation without a doubt."
