Former Liverpool defender Mark Lawrenson has backed Everton's pursuit of Henrik Larsson.
In his column for the Daily Post, Lawrenson wrote: "David is in a position where he needs proven striking quality, so he can ill afford to start taking gambles in January.
"Which is why Henrik Larsson would be the ideal signing.
"He is still super-fit and his record speaks for itself.
"I remember when Kenny Dalglish was in charge at Celtic, talking about how eager Larsson was to work hard and come back from an injury, always desperate to play.
"Kenny was amazed at how good a pro he was and loved his attitude and work ethic.
"That kind of mindset will stand him in good stead for the Premier League.
"And if he comes to Everton the likes of Victor Anichebe and James Vaughan struggling with his own injury problems - could learn some invaluable lessons."
